Legacy Explorers: Career Readiness & Higher Education

What is it?

This summer initiative is a higher education exploration and career readiness program designed to enhance youth personal development and positive community engagement.

Through the summer experience, motivated young people from diverse backgrounds-across the city of Trenton and Mercer County, New Jersey will explore, collaborate, research, plan and implement project for positive impact across their communities. Along the way, they will also learn about in-demand soft skills needed in the workplace and develop skills needed to manage money effectively, understand and build credit.  

Components: Career Exploration, Soft Skills Development, Financial Literacy, Community Service, Post-Secondary Education Preparation

Program Objective:  Provide valuable career exposure to various career pathways, increase participants’ knowledge of in-demand workplace skills, post-secondary education options and fundamental elements of financial literacy.

Expectations:

• Participants have an opportunity to earn a stipend
• Participants will learn valuable information pertaining to their career interests and higher education goals
• Participants will acquire essential soft-skills employers seek
• Participants will provide practical solutions to challenges faced by youth and families in their local communities
